BS Secondary Education - Business Education

The Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education is a degree offered by the College of Education aligned with the College of Liberal Arts for students desing to prepare for a career in teaching in grades 7-12. The Students/applicants are responsible for contacting their state department of education for certification requirements and program approval. The student/applicant should check with the Grand Canyon University Catalog and academic advisor to obtain information regarding recent policies and procedures that are part of a teacher credentialing program. Courses are instructed by authorities in their individual fields who share knoledge and experiences in areas of educational psychology, reading approaches, teaching approaches, assessment, classroom management, and curriculum development. All courses are directly aligned with the Arizona Professional Teacher Standards. Chances are given to make use of ideas, theories, and reserch entirely through the teacher preparation program. Assignments within many of the courses provide guidance to students through empirical experience practicums, and the final semester of the program consists of a full-time, 16 week student teaching componet.
